5 steps to generate awareness of your brand on Facebook

The graphic is taken from the following document published by Facebook talking about best practices:

Is your marketing machine (on Facebook) ready for the world?

We want to share this video we’ve seen on Facebook Studios with you, that explains all the different elements you can use in your marketing strategy for your brand or product on Facebook.

Is this Google’s answer to Facebook’s Like-button?

Google implements through one of their “experiments” a button to tell your friends what you recommend/like on Google and all over the web.

Unfortunately we couldn’t find the documentation about how to implement the button into our site, otherwise you could find it at the end of this post… What do you think? Will you use the +1 button*?

* You need to be logged into your Google Account to be part of the experiment. to start +1 stuff all around the Internet. You can start right at the bottom of this post.

Is your password being hacked right now?

Mozilla made a nice video (click this link or the image below) explaining how to create safe passwords. In January this year, the New York Times wrote a nice article about safe and hacking passwords…

[...] nearly 1 percent of the 32 million people it studied had used “123456″ as a password. The second-most-popular password was “12345″. Others in the top 20 included “qwerty”, “abc123″ and “princess”.
That suggests that hackers could easily break into many accounts just by trying the most common passwords. Because of the prevalence of fast computers and speedy networks, hackers can fire off thousands of password guesses per minute.

“Check out THIS AREA…”

I think almost all of us have tried to explain once to someone to check out a certain area/neighborhood of a town for stores, bars, restaurants, etc. Yahoo! made a nice iPhone/iPod touch App (other platforms under construction) that will allow you to search exactly like that.

When do Twitter users sleep?

This post is kind of aligned with the prior one talking about the continuous use of social platforms – even when a user is not able to sleep at night, a good “tranquilizer” seems to be checking your Facebook status or just tweet some stuff. So when do Twitter users really sleep? If you have a Twitter account, try it out, otherwise you can check when Ashton Kutcher is sleeping!

A new step for you becoming a news reporter

YouTube just launched a new platform/service called “YouTube direct” where you (& the crowd) can become part of your favorite news site. It allows each website owner to add the YouTube video upload functionality on their site to have users submit their contents. It also comes with an admin page for the website owner for content approval. The reporter is YOU!

Google’s launches Local Search for Mobiles

I just tried it and it works. If you’re having a Google account you can mark locations you find on Google Maps and they will show up if you open google.com from your mobile phone. Nice and useful as you cannot access your personal GMaps from your mobile, yet.
