Teens don’t use Twitter “because it’s lame”

myYearbook.com made a study to find out why teens are not using Twitter.  Although not 100% representative for this target, this survey of 10.000+ US teens offer some insights that are at the end shared through other targets in other socila media platforms. There are reasons for them not to use twitter…

But for the ones who signed up and didn’t stop tweeting there are also reasons to keep using it, such as:

  • Update My Status
  • Keep Up With My Favorite Musicians, Bands, or Celebrities
  • Stay Current with What’s Going On in the World
  • Keep Up with Friends I Know

But, having a closer look at those reasons, deeper insights emerges why Twitter isn’t more popular for them

  • Teens already update their status religiously on other sites like Facebook, MySpace, and myYearbook.
  • Teens use MySpace to keep up with musicians and celebrities, which MySpace differentiates on.
  • As a group, teens are not major consumers of news from any outlet, making “staying current” a poor driver of mainstream adoption — though of course there are exceptions.
  • Teens use both MySpace and Facebook to keep up with friends they know.

Twitter will soon add location to your tweets

Twitter announced to launch soon a new feature that – in case you activate it – will track the location of your tweets. The main benefit for the user will be to search and receive particular tweets based on his location or a location he’s searching for. Get more details here New York Times

A vision of Mobile Advertisement

This white paper by Acision and OgilvyOne is looking at mobile advertising in 2020.
PS. If you’re asking me, I think the vision will become reality earlier than 2020.
